Currently, 25 scholarships are available to graduate students and community volunteers (non-paid) across the Commonwealth to cover the registration cost ($200) of the two-day 2017 Governor’s Conference on Aging. Additional incidentals (travel, lodging, food not provided at conference) are at the recipients’ expense. A new focus area, Community Engagement: Supporting and Leveraging the Work of Citizens Advocates, has been built into the 2017 conference program to engage these individuals and create learning, meaningful conversation and networking opportunities. The scholarships are aimed to support the community volunteers and aging advocates that plan to attend this year’s conference. We recognize community advocates and grassroots volunteers are key to the success of aging services in Virginia.
